PRCA Judge Thomas Peterson passes
Thomas Gorman Peterson, a former PRCA bull rider and PRCA judge, passed away March 4. He was 60. Peterson won the average at the Great Lakes Circuit Finals Rodeo in 1983. Peterson was born May 29, 1958, in Deadwood S.D. He was adopted by Gorman and May Peterson and brought to Timber Lake, S.D., to begin his life in his new home. Peterson attended Timber Lake High School where he excelled in football and rodeo. Peterson bought his PRCA card in 1978. He earned $56,519 in his rodeo career. Peterson continued competing into the early 1990s. After he retired from bull riding, he moved to Bryan, Texas, and began his PRCA judging career. Peterson moved back to Rapid City in the mid-2000s for a few years and then to Aberdeen, S.D. Peterson continued being a rodeo official part time, as well as a worker for the 3M Corporation. Peterson was preceded in death by his parents, Gorman and May Peterson, and uncle and aunt, Pat and Garnet Peterson. He is survived by his wife, Marty, their children Tyler, Tobi and Tara; His brother, Jerry (Marla) Peterson; nieces, Shay Peterson and Rachel Peterson. Peterson’s funeral  was held March 12 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Timber Lake, S.D.
