Compared to last week hay prices are fully steady. Demand was good with several contacts wondering how they are going to load and move hay with all of the excessive moisture across some of the state. As the frost leaves the ground, fields and roads have become rather soft making it hard to navigate loaded trucks down gravel roads. Some contacts are out of hay with others selling a few loads a week. Some contacts noted that there has been some out of state buyers procuring hay and donating loads to people “in need” from the massive flooding last week. The state could use several days of warm, sunny weather to dry the land and help recess the water to normal levels. However, some snow left to melt and more rain is in the forecast over the weekend. All sales are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted.
