Compared to the last week alfalfa and grass hay sold unevenly steady. Ground and delivered hay and dehy pellets sold steady. Buyer inquiry has  picked up in some areas of the state. Some cattlemen are starting to wean or sell spring born calves and are trying to finalize what they might need for winter feed. Farmers are struggling in the Eastern part of the state with fall harvest due to damp conditions and crops are slow to dry down. Nass reports week ending October 16th, corn harvest is only 34 percent complete, 6 percent below the average for this time of year. Soybeans harvested was 62 percent with the average at 74 percent. All sales are dollars per ton FOB (freight on buyer) in the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted.
