Temperatures in the 50s greeted those attending the Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica Inc. Commercial Heifer Show held during the Black Hills Stock Show on Jan. 27. Judging the show was Chip Huckfeldt of Gering, Neb., Brandon Mitchell of Kadoka, S.D. and Matt Reints of Hot Springs, S.D.

Winner of the heifer show was Tyler and Cam Fagerhaug of Wessington Springs, S.D. Their pen of SimAngus heifers was the champion medium weight division winner before taking overall honors. They receive the 1-year use of a trailer from Blake’s Trailer Sales.

Winning the light weight division was a pen of Angus heifers from the Forster Ranch of Gordon, Neb. 

Winning the heavy weight division was a pen of Angus heifers from Weiszhaar Ranch of Leola, S.D. 

The show had 12 pens vying for bragging rights, the use of a Titan trailer from Blake’s Trailer Sales and $5,000 in added money. Sponsors of the event were Boehring Ingelheim Vetmedica, Glacial Lakes Energy, Blake’s Trailer Sales, Bridger Steel, Farm Credit Services of America, New Direction Equipment Co., Peerbuilt and Vitalix.
