National Slaughter Cattle Summary - Week ending Apr. 14th

Slaughter cattle sold 2.00 higher in Texas and Kansas with live trades in Nebraska 3.00-9.00 higher. Dressed sales were 6.00-7.00 higher. Packers more willing to trade at higher prices as cattle futures moved higher all week. Beef prices finally turned higher later in the week. Boxed Beef prices as of Friday afternoon averaged 205.78 up 3.43 from last Friday. The Choice/Select spread is 12.60. Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday afternoon totaled about 111,198 head. Last week’s total head count was 57,143 head.
