Compared to the last week alfalfa, grass hay, ground and delivered hay and dehy pellets sold steady. Demand was mostly light to moderate for all classes of hay. Most prospective buyers continue to purchase hay on an as needed basis. Cooler weather at this weeks close is making it tough on people that are trying to finish up baling 4th or 5th cutting alfalfa and cane/millet type hay. Some farmers have been picking beans, high moisture corn and some have started on dry corn. Demand for hay products should start to increase as we go through October as producers will start to wean spring calves and they will need to supplement them. All sales are dollars per ton FOB (freight on buyer) in the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted.
