National Slaughter Cattle Summary - Week ending Mar. 31st

Slaughter cattle only lightly traded this week. Limited sales in Texas and Kansas were to lightly tested for a trend. Slaughter cattle in Nebraska though lightly tested were 4.00-6.00 lower and live 7.00-9.00 lower dressed. Boxed Beef prices as of Friday afternoon averaged 209.06 down 9.52 from last Friday. The Choice/Select spread is 10.12. Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday afternoon totaled about 53,480 head. Last week’s total head count was 104,619 head.
