National Slaughter Cattle Summary - Week ending Feb. 3rd

Slaughter cattle 3.00 lower with dressed sales in Nebraska 4.00 lower.Packer demand remains good as beef trade held firm for the week. Feedyards continue to market cattle on a timely basis as cash prices remain ahead of the current futures contract. Boxed Beef prices as of Friday afternoon averaged 190.66 down .16 from last Friday. The Choice/Select spread is 1.47. Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday afternoon totaled about 86,250 head. Last week’s total head count was 96,897 head.
